Play Reading Group is back!

Join us on Wednesday, 2nd October 2024 at the New Millennium Theatre at 7pm! We’ll be reading Casting Doubt, a brand-new comedy/tragedy by local playwright Peter Smith. This play has never been performed before and is centered around a local drama group. SYNOPSIS Derek Crompton and Danny Morgan, lifelong friends and dedicated members of the ‘Barrowcroft Players’, have always supported the group behind the scenes—whether it's Front of House, Set Building, or Backstage duties.Derek, who recently lost his wife Philippa, is struggling with life alone. Though their friends believed they were the perfect couple, Derek has doubts about his wife’s feelings and begins investigating the past. What will he uncover? And what will it cost him? Note: This is NOT an audition or casting night—it’s a social gathering to read and enjoy a play together! No acting experience is needed. Just come along, have some fun, and enjoy the read! Refreshments will be provided, and we’ll have a brief discussion afterward about whether this play should be considered for performance. Your thoughts matter! Everyone is welcome!
