Times Two
By Frank Gibbons & David Tristram
BILL & BEN THE TWILIGHT MEN - [Written & Directed by Frank Gibbons] - Bill is a curmudgeonly barman who nurses a desperate love for the landlady, Rose, but she's being courted by out-of-towner Ben, a suave, rich man. But a new guest at the pub, a spate of burglaries and the local copper's inventions combine to turn Bill's fortunes around. THE FAT LADY SINGS IN WHITEWELL BOTTOM - Directed by Len Taylor - The Story So Far ... It started with 'Last Tango ...' in which our four heroes battled to save their ailing am-dram with a home-grown sex comedy. It turned into an evening the locals would only forget after years of expensive counselling. Then came 'Last Panto ...' in which the prolific Gordon unveiled tghe world's greatest pantomime (oh no it wasn't). And now, trhe querulous quartet finally try to tackle a musical - traditionally their achilles heel. Well, one of their many Achilles' heels, to be fair. The odds are stacked against them. The locals who saw their last production are still in therapy. It all looks a bit grim, but it's never over ... until the Fat Lady sings!
