My Mother said I never should
By Charlotte Keatley
'My Mother said I never should' explores the private relationship between mother and daughter; how the bonds of love and jealousy play themselves out against the pressures of each generation's public goals and expectations of women. The play explores how, within this relationship, we lie to each other or hold each other back or push each other on, and how we transcend the lies and demands.
